White-crowned Manakin
The White-crowned Manakin is a Passeriforme of the family Pipridae.
Characteristics
It is about 10 cm in length. The male is black with a white crown and red iris. The female is olive-green with a greyish head and paler underparts.
Food
Breeding
Small, loose groups of males display in short flights from low, slender branches often with the white crown feathers spread outwards.
The cup-shaped nest is built on the fork of a branch and the clutch is of two eggs.
Habits
É comum no sub-bosque de florestas úmidas. Apresenta comportamento reprodutivo semelhante ao de outras espécies da família Pipridae. Passa desapercebido na floresta, a não ser que esteja cantando.
Distribution
Toda a Amazônia brasileira e na Mata Atlântica, do sul da Bahia ao Rio de Janeiro. Encontrado também na Costa Rica, Panamá, Guianas, Venezuela, Colômbia, Equador e Peru.
